Why conventional solvent-based products matter?

Many traditional construction chemicals rely on organic solvents. Those solvents are called volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and are often derived from petroleum. Their extraction, refining, and usage increases product’s carbon footprint. These solvents evaporate and contribute to air pollution.

Reducing solvent content is one of the most effective and practical ways to lower environmental and health impacts of construction chemicals.

What “low-VOC”, “water-based” and “100% solids” actually mean?

  • Low-VOC: Formulations with minimal volatile organics. They release far fewer airborne pollutants
  • Water-based: Water acts as the carrier instead of a harmful solvent. When the product cures, water evaporates, leaving behind the solid material.
  • 100% solids: These systems contain no carrier that needs to evaporate. What you apply becomes the solid film after curing, so there is essentially no solvent to evaporate in environment.
