Flexcrete – Cement Mixes Modifier & Waterproofer for High Performance Repairs and Coatings

Flexcrete
Why do concrete structures fail prematurely?

Why do basements leak, terraces crack, or repair patches fall apart within a few seasons? The construction industry continues to battle common problems like poor bonding, water seepage, early deterioration, and inadequate protection against environmental exposure. These issues often stem from limitations in conventional cement-sand systems that can’t withstand today’s demanding site conditions.

In construction, the durability of any structure begins with the quality of its base materials. Cementitious systems modified with advanced polymers have become essential for improving performance, offering enhanced strength, flexibility, and waterproofing. Longevity begins with what goes into your mix. Flexcrete® is a next-generation acrylic co-polymer dispersion specially engineered to upgrade ordinary cement-sand mortars into high-performance patching, rendering, screeding, and waterproofing systems. From waterproofing basements and podiums to protecting steel reinforcements, Flexcrete® is versatile as well as powerful.

Whether you’re sealing a porous surface, rendering vertical walls, or applying anti-corrosion protection, Flexcrete® enhances both the physical and chemical durability of cementitious compositions, making it ideal for use in both repair and new construction environments.

What Makes Flexcrete® Stand Out?

Flexcrete® works as a multi-role modifier that transforms conventional sand-cement systems into durable, flexible and waterproof solutions. Mixed with cement alone, it forms a slurry that effectively seals absorbent and porous surfaces. Its polymeric formulation allows excellent adhesion, low permeability, and high resistance to environmental aggressors like chlorides, oxygen diffusion, and acid gases. It also improves shotcrete or Gunite performance, reducing rebound loss and allowing for high build applications—perfect for overhead or vertical sections.

Where Can You Use Flexcrete®?

  • Terrace Waterproofing– Flexcrete® creates a seamless, waterproof barrier over terraces, preventing water seepage and cracks. It withstands thermal movement and resists UV degradation. Ideal for exposed horizontal surfaces requiring long-term protection.
  • Basement Walls and Slabs– Applied as a slurry or mortar, Flexcrete® penetrates deep into concrete to seal pores and cracks. It resists water under hydrostatic pressure, making it ideal for underground applications. Protects basements from dampness and water ingress.
  • Toilet and Wet Area Waterproofing– Used beneath tile beds, Flexcrete® provides a durable, water-resistant layer in bathrooms and wet zones. It prevents leakage into concrete and inhibits fungal growth. Suitable for toilets, kitchens, and shower areas.
  • Podiums and Roof Decks– Flexcrete® offers a high-build, flexible layer that withstands foot traffic and outdoor exposure. It reduces surface permeability and protects against cracks. Best suited for horizontal slabs exposed to rain and sunlight.
  • Water Tanks and Sumps– Safe for contact with potable water, Flexcrete® seals concrete tanks against leakage and chemical attack. It provides a non-toxic, long-lasting coating. Suitable for both fresh water and wastewater containment.
  • Pointing in Natural Stone or Brickwork– Flexcrete® can be used to prepare polymer-modified mortars for pointing stone or brick joints. It improves bond strength and waterproofing of masonry. Ideal for architectural or façade restoration projects.
  • Protective Coating for Steel Reinforcement– When used with MULTIBOND S, Flexcrete® forms a corrosion-resistant coating on steel rebars. It blocks moisture and chloride ion penetration. Enhances durability and lifespan of reinforced concrete structures.
  • Bonding Agent for Concrete and Screeds– Flexcrete® enhances adhesion between new and old concrete surfaces. It acts as an effective bonding primer for overlays and repairs. Reduces the risk of delamination or weak joints.
  • Gunite / Shotcrete Applications– Flexcrete® improves workability, strength, and adhesion of shotcrete in both wet and dry processes. It enables high-build application with low rebound loss. Used in tunnels, retaining walls, and curved structures.
  • High-Strength Repair Mortar– Flexcrete®-modified mortars deliver excellent compressive and flexural strength with low shrinkage. Ideal for patching damaged concrete with superior adhesion. Suitable for vertical, horizontal, and overhead repairs.
Key Benefits at a Glance
  • Superior adhesion to damp, wet, or dry substrates
  • Increased compressive and flexural strength
  • High abrasion and chemical resistance
  • Low water permeability and shrinkage
  • Non-corrosive to steel due to high alkalinity
  • Supports thicker vertical and horizontal applications
  • Coverage: 50–60 m²/kg in two coats
  • Elongation: 200%
How to Use Flexcrete®
  1. Surface Preparation- Remove all unsound concrete and ensure the substrate is clean, textured, and free from dust, oil, rust, and contaminants.
  2. Priming / Bonding- Apply two coats of MULTIBOND S on cleaned steel for anti-corrosion protection. For porous concrete, use a Flexcrete slurry and apply while the surface is still damp.
  3.  Mixing- Use a forced-action pan mixer or paddle mixer to prepare a homogeneous mix. Maintain a water-cement ratio below 0.4.
  4.  Placing- Apply mortar or screed in layers not exceeding 50 mm with proper compaction. For multi-layer applications, ensure the previous layer is hardened but not fully cured before proceeding.
  5. Waterproofing Coating- Mix Flexcrete® and cement in equal parts to form a slurry and apply two brush coats. Allow the first coat to become tacky before applying the second for a uniform waterproof layer.
  6.  Curing- Protect the surface with damp hessian, polythene, or curing compound for at least 72 hours. For flooring, broadcast silica sand to aid curing and provide a durable, slip-resistant finish.
Conclusion

With Flexcrete®, you’re not just improving cement mixes—you’re future-proofing your structure. Whether it’s for waterproofing or protective coatings, this single-component polymer solution delivers industrial-grade durability, ease of application, and long-lasting results. Flexcrete® is engineered to protect what matters—a terrace, basement, or structural repair.
